turn around please

chair

Sometimes a little twist makes the greatest impression. In this case, a literal twist on Sara Rowghani’s chair makes it an incredible design. The chair reminds me of so many things at once: a pretzel, hair braid, chocolate, ribbons.
I think that’s exactly what defines a good design! See the making process here

painted beauties

I’ve always had a thing for furniture sketches. You’d find me trying to perfect a Louis XVI chair on any paper and pen I get my hands on. It gets even more exciting for me when I’m thinking of a certain space somewhere and try to visualize what it would look like with different settings.
So you can imagine how excited I was to find Shann’s gallery. Pretty vignettes and painted Parisian/Provencal inspired settings.
I LOVE the detailed fabric on the painted chairs.

All things nautical

I have always loved nautical themes. On some sunny days I just get in the mood to dress nautically. Stripes, splashes of red and natural leather are the best ways to achieve the look. Lately however, I’ve also fallen in love with nautical themed decor. I wouldn’t dare implement it in my home however, except in a little boys room or if I ever get to decorate a seaside home. My favorite style element is the porthole.
I don’t know what it is about the style that just attracts me. It could be the connection i subconsciously make with my childhood memories of fishing with grandpa. Or its just the fact that it makes me feel like I'm at the sea,or better even,on a yacht.image

La Vecchia Marina are the masters of the nautical style. I passed by their stand in the furniture fair last year in Milan and immediately fell in love. Portholes and louvers everywhere. Just a stroll through the stand immediately puts you in the yacht-y marine feeling.

new year, new and very blank slate

So what are your new year resolutions? You wanna know mine? always, always back up. I learned my lesson the very hard way. During a visit to my sister abroad my laptop decides to shut down on me for the last time ever so badly. And as if that was not enough, my blackberry decides to join and commit suicide a few days before I came back. I’m never prepared for sudden crashes because thankfully, i’ve never had to deal with them before. Now however, I am determined to constantly remind myself of how important it is to backup. I’m hoping some phone guru at the phone doctors can salvage my info.
If you were to go through my blackberry, you’d find a mind map of mine. Seriously, all my instant ideas and reminders are on those notes. I should get myself a jotting pad that wouldn’t ever die on me, nothings worse than losing your minute inspirational notes and reminders.
More things on my list :
+ Increase outdoor activities
+ Earlier mornings
+ Quality time with family and loved ones
+ Lots of inspiration & design ambitions. Be bold.

the ultimate kitchen accessory

AAAAAlYcJ2gAAAAAALJkLA
Is a Kitchen Aid stand mixer in a metallic satin copper finish.
It’s beautiful, I would buy it just to display it on a kitchen counter. I’m not much of a baking queen myself, but this beauty would definitely drag me to the kitchen from time to time.

1953 style revived

A few days ago, I watched Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell’s Gentlemen prefer blondes for the first time. Dorothy and Lorelei and their adventure was just hilarious.
What I loved about the movie most however was there fabulous sense of style. I just love how feminine and classy fashion was during that era of time. Although the movie was originally black and white I’m assuming someone must have colored the movie and so the dress colors are not so accurate. Still however, I was in love.

This was my favorite costume of all. I just love how the scarf is tied around her shoulders and extends all the way to the back. I couldn’t find a picture of the costume from the back, but that scarf height is just lovely.

This color is just so luscious i love it.I definitely intend to add this periwinkle-ish color to my wardrobe. I love how simple the dress is with the twist that the color gives it.
'I just love finding new places to wear diamonds': Lorelei (Marilyn Monroe) tries on a tiara.
