turn around please

chair

Sometimes a little twist makes the greatest impression. In this case, a literal twist on Sara Rowghani’s chair makes it an incredible design. The chair reminds me of so many things at once: a pretzel, hair braid, chocolate, ribbons.
I think that’s exactly what defines a good design! See the making process here

the ultimate kitchen accessory

AAAAAlYcJ2gAAAAAALJkLA
Is a Kitchen Aid stand mixer in a metallic satin copper finish.
It’s beautiful, I would buy it just to display it on a kitchen counter. I’m not much of a baking queen myself, but this beauty would definitely drag me to the kitchen from time to time.

thorny situations

Have you ever been in a thorny situation? No matter how you try to get yourself out of it, you’re just sure that thorn’s coming up. I’m making it sound too poetic, aren’t I? Well I got myself into a huge thorny situation earlier today when an idea sparked in a cloud above my head as I passed by my grandma’s gardener throwing out the excess branches from old trees. I’ve been wanting to find something interesting for that corner in my room, something with a little bit of height to it. That’s when i decided to experiment and asked him to leave out a few branches on the side for me.

well obviously our branches don’t blossom around this side of the world, sadly. But you get the idea.

So I got started. I picked out the right size and color of branches, shed off the leaves and cut out the excess side branches. If you ever try this, make sure you wear gloves as it is a very thorny situation.

I brought out a few vases to fit them in. I found the one with the wider opening carried more and gave them a more natural drop. We then washed them out to bring out the beautiful natural reddish wood color. I left them out for a while to dry.

meanwhile, I went out to Sia and grabbed a few artificial flowers. How I wish our climate allowed us to grow lovely hydrangeas and colorful roses in our gardens to decorate vases with on a daily basis. But for now, faux flowers will do the job.

I picked an odd count of three roses and just a little shrub to finish it off. I think I might need another shrub for the other end to give it a complete look.
lit up my diptyque candle and enjoyed the view.
Recommended if you’ve got some extra time on your hands and a corner to fill.

joy is {2}

Throwing a casual carb filled bon voyage party for the dearest people to you with an unusually pretty Fiona Cairns teapot cake.

The lovely Cath Kidston table cover creates the cheerful mood you should emphasize in goodbyes.

Will miss my dearest asmah

a pile of books

my obsession with interior design books is growing, and growing.

I know its in my genes because my father has an internal magnet to bookstores and libraries, so lets just hope my fascination is controllable.

I had a major drool fest today at Kinokuniya bookstore at the dubai mall. Major decor eye candy.

I ended up with Nancy Corzine's Glamour at home, great tips on decor glamour.

I left this one on the shelf but something tells me i'm passing again tommorow.

fun with fish

I'm so late on posting my photos up here but had to do it nonetheless. I've only been to Singapore of the Far East countries before, so I had no clue what Kuala Lumpur would be like. Though I didn't spend much time there I had a great time.
I loved how diverse the place was intermixed with elements of originality that you won't find elsewhere.

my sister and I accidentally found this coffee shop/home accessories store Zang Toi. They had the most beautiful trays and wall mirrors. They also make beautiful white stacking baskets and lounge clothing.

Last night we got together for a casual/surprise mini pool party for my sister B.
I set the table up with a fresh tea green colored cover, with edges i had cut in a half-circular pattern. I attached loose bows around the ends.
I scattered tea lite candles around the pool, dug up the coasters i got at Soho NYC two years ago and enjoyed the outdoor heat for a couple of hours.
Recommended if you've spent tooo much time indoors and need to get some fresh air.
I realize i've neglected my blog for sooo long, i actually missed it. xoxo

effortless creations

recently, because i am constantly on the search for furniture and inspiration for mon chambre et al i have piled up lots and lots of photos of sets i think are so effortless-ly pretty. I noticed furniture pieces that come in sets are so passe for me, putting together pieces i only fall in luv with is what i'm going to do. Sadly though it is very hard to find the things i have in mind sometimes, and one's got to do with whats available. My aim is to make it as delicate and inviting as possible. Its still a work in progress.
